Author LUDWIG WITTGENSTEIN

The Lectures on Philosophical Psychology – 1946-1947 are the last lectures Wittgenstein gave before his retirement. They provide an overview of his inquiries into the philosophy of psychology and constitute a valuable complement to Remarks on the Philosophy of Psychology and Last Writings. They cast doubt on the reliability of introspection, develop a significant analysis of the asymetry which characterizes the expression of personal experience, and explain that, if asymetry is a « formal property » common to all psychological concepts, nevertheless, these concepts belong to different categories irreducible to one another.
